A Turtles Halloween Treat

For our turtle Lilly we cleaned out her tank so that she would have some very nice water to swim in. We needed to do it anyways but tonight seemed like a perfect time to do it as we were waiting for everyone to get ready to go trick or treating. Normally we let Lilly walk around the room so that she can get some special exercise but today we made a little turtle playpen for her out of Hopes dog food container and some of Michael’s old college books. At least it worked well enough to keep her inside. She is trying to use her log to see above the obstacles so that she can see the progression of the cleaning of her tank. I think that she also wanted to see Matty because he was in the room and she really loves him.Now she is just sitting on her log demanding to have her sunning light. Her light bulb went out today so she is going to be doing a lot of sunning tonight. Lilly is funny in that when she wants her light on she will get on top of her log and wait for you to turn it on. At least now her tank is clean and she can enjoy the treat that she got on Halloween. We sure do have some very interesting pets.

Dragon Feeder

Before we could leave for trick or treating we had to give Hope her dinner which is a very hard thing to do lately. She just really hasn't wanted to eat much of her food. She is doing better but she sure does great at eating it all when Matty feeds her. I don't know why but she just loves it when he does that for her. They sure are really cute to watch together. I think every kid should have a dog at least once in their life time if they are going to be as cute as these two are.

Matty was counting the pieces that he is feeding her. I also like it when I ask him if he is a dragon feeder and he says, "No, I am a Skunk Feeder!" It is so cute and you have to understand that he only said that because he was a skunk for Halloween this year and a very nice smelling one too.

Hope the Dragon

Well I finally finished her costume in time for the holiday. I actually finished the costume the night before Halloween and it was so late when I was finished with it that I didn’t get to put it on Hope until Halloween day. At least I was ready with it and I think that she did some growing during the time that I was making it because I am going to have to adjust it for next year already. That is if we use the costume ever again. I really tried to make it adjustable but I don't know how well it will work in the future though.
Here is what she looks like from the side. I do think that it turned out really cute. It sure was a lot of hard work but looking at it you wouldn’t be able to tell that.
Hope even looks cute with the back of her costumes view and it is also a much better shot of the wings. I do love how the wings turned out and when she would shake her body the wings would fly all over the place. It was really cute to watch her trying to fly, as my dad said.
She was so excited to go on a walk tonight and show off her costume too. I wanted her to be able to walk around so that she could get some more exercise for today but also so that she could get use to seeing more people around. Sometimes she can be very shy and I really want her to get over that. I do think that she is really good at being patient while everyone is getting ready to leave for trick or treating. She was helping my nephew, Matty, walk from house to house safely. What a great body guard.

More No Names

Well Michael came home today with two more frogs so that Jenny won't become to lonely. It was very sweet of him to think of her. I was a little worried thought that with having two new ones they would want to bond with one another and not her. Well We have another boy and girl frog and they all are doing fine with each other so I really didn't have to worry at all. For some reason though these two were easy to name. The new boy is named Teddy because the girls like to cuddle up with him and the new little girl is named Becky. They all really seem to get along with each other fine and I hope that in a couple of days I can see them all relaxed into the new situation. I have also decided that they have a different last name then the rest of the pets because they went so long without any names that the frogs will always have the last name of No-Names!

Named To Late

It is a very sad afternoon because we have lost one of our little frogs. Our boy frog who we gave a name to a couple of days a go has passed away. Michael picked the name Amos for him and I picked the name Jenny for the girl. We wanted them to have some special names and that is why it took so long to name them and now our poor little Amos is gone. It was really just so unexpected too which makes it even harder to believe that he is gone. I hate it when a pet passes on because you get so close to them and in a short amount of time too. Amos was a really good frog because he swam all over the tank and he helped the little girl frog become more active when she was feeling sick. It is so sad that he has died when he helped to keep her alive. Now she is all by herself and she is having a hard time. She is just swimming all over the tank trying to find him. She is also so young that I think we are going to have to get her another friend because I have heard that they get so lonely that they will die and I don’t want to lose her too. It is just so sad that we have lost our little Amos already.

Group of Leaves

Something everyone needs to do in the fall is jump into a bunch of leaves. Well I wanted Hope to do that too but in a doggy sort of way. I really just wanted her to have some fun with the leaves. So I tried to gather together as many leaves as I could with a really tiny rake that my mother has.Hope is starting to wonder what I am doing and what all of the leaves are for. I just love her curiosity and that she hasn’t gotten into any trouble from it yet.

I love how she just went totally crazy with the leaves once she figured out how much fun they could be and what to do with them. She really loved running in them too.
Now she is getting a little tired from all of the exercise she has gotten and figures that since the leaves were so much fun to play in they would be even better to rest in. I would have to agree with her on that because they do give some soft padding against the hard ground. I do think that next time I am going to have to make a much bigger bunch of leaves then this one.

Halloween Sound Card

Michael family sent us a cute fish Halloween card that makes sound once you open it up. Well Hope was very interested in this card because it made a noise and she had to figure out where and how it did that. The card has two fish on it and one is in a costume as a ghost and the other is in the fish castle answering the door.
Michael is reading the card so that you can know what it says. I like how Hope reacts to it.

We are just opening the card now for Hope so that she can listen to the sound better. I didn’t get it on the video but right after I finished taking this video and Michael was taking the card away from Hope, she put her paw on the card and wanted it back so that she could listen to it some more.I don’t think that she can read the words of the card but she sure looks cute trying to do so.
Now she is asking for Michael to close and open the card again so that it can make that funny sound again. It is really funny that we can tell what she wants just by the look that she gives us. She sure loves that card and likes it close to her bed so that at least she can see it, funny girl.

Icy Cold!

I told you earlier how much Hope loves ice and it is like a favorite treat for her, right? Well I figure that you just have to see her with it when she has some. So enjoy watching.

For some reason she likes to look at the window to see her reflection in it and she stops eating the ice only to see what is going on around her. She is also getting a little full because I had to give her a lot of ice to get a good enough video for you to see.

Dragon Toy

Yesterday Hope had to go to the vet because she has not been feeling so well. The vet was a little helpful but not at all how I was hoping for it to turn out. So since she had a really hard time we decided to get her a new toy to kind of make up for the terrible experience that she and even us had. She really didn’t care what toy she got and that is a first because normally she is very picky about her toys. Well the store had this really cute dragon and Hope was fine with getting it so we did. Here is what her new toy looks like. I think they look cute together and what is even funnier is that she is going to be a dragon for Halloween so it just fits perfect. All the way home she wanted to play with the dragon but we had no scissors to take the tags off so she had to wait. I am actually amazed that she is not trying to eat the toy just yet. She is just so good when I want to take pictures! Now she is ready to play and get the toy. I’m just glad that they say this toy is more durable so it will be harder for her to destroy it. She actually has really only destroyed one toy and we fix it for her all of the time because she loves it so much. I know she is going to have a lot of fun with this toy.
I told you that she would have fun. I also think that it is funny when she plays with her toy and with her tail end up in the air. She sure makes me laugh at least once a day and that is really good for me or really just anyone. Hopefully she made you laugh or at least smile today.

Almost Brazilian Food

Ever since Michael found that sweet dough recipe for the pizza he has wanted to make some cheese ball rolls. I have a recipe for that but Michael wanted to make it out of the pizza recipe because it reminded him of the bread that they have in Brazil. So he made the cheese ball rolls while I was making my baked pumpkin seeds. He even did the cheese ball rolls way different than what my recipe says to do. This made me very interested in how these were going to turn out. Michael wrapped the cheese inside of the bread like a little pocket thing and baked it like that. He did everything the same as the pizza recipe but the baking time was a little longer because they needed it so that they wouldn’t be so doughy. So if you try to make the cheese ball rolls just look for them to be a nice golden color and test one. Here is how ours look after we have finished baking them. Not totally golden brown but I think that if we put some butter on the top on them they would have become golden. They did taste fantastic and I am sure going to make these again but Michael says that the Brazilian cheese ball roll bread is much saltier and so he is going to try to correct the recipe for the ball rolls someday. I sure do like trying to make some of the Brazilian food that he had while he was there. Maybe one day I can find a good cook book or something to help me out.

Baked Pumpkin Seed

I am trying to find some fun family traditions that we could do with our children one day or just fun things with each other. So I thought why not try to make baked pumpkin seeds. I had heard of other families doing this and thought that it would be something fun and different because we never did that in my family. It sure was an interesting experiment and I don’t know if I did it totally correctly. I got a couple of different recipes for it off the internet and some of the recipes varied a LOT! But I was still determined to make this fun.You can see that Michael and I were picking out a lot of pumpkin seeds from the left over mess and it was hard because the seeds wanted to slip out of our hands. We tried to get a lot of the pulp off and I think that we did pretty good too seeing how slippery it was. I still can’t believe it but some of the seeds that we had pulled out of the pumpkin were actually beginning to grow! Like roots and leaves were already coming out of the seeds! So we really couldn’t use those ones for our baked pumpkin seed recipe but we did joke about growing a pumpkin indoors because they had already started. I’m just glad that all the seeds got baked. The best part of the entire process was washing the seeds, well at least for me it was. I had so much fun playing in the water that I really felt like a little kid again. I think this would be a really fun part for a child and probably the most worth wild part of the process for them too. After we were done washing the seeds we let them dry out on a clean dish towel. This sure did take a long time so it is very good to find another fun activity to do while you wait or else your kids are going to be going crazy.Once the seeds are dry you can start the cooking process. I tried to combine two recipes into one. Here is my version of the baked pumpkin seeds recipe.

Recipe:
-1/2 cup melted butter for 2 ¾ cup of pumpkin seeds
-salt (put on as much as you would like for your taste buds)
-Oven on at 275 degrees. You will bake the seeds for about 40-50 minutes (watch for the seeds to turn a nice golden brown color and also make sure that they are crispy too)
-You can put other seasons and spices on your seeds if you don’t want just plain baked pumpkin seeds (I did half plain and the other half cinnamon/nutmeg).

Here is how mine look after all the baking is done. The bag on the left is plain and the other bag is what I tried to do for the seasoning (cinnamon/nutmeg). Michael says that they turned out fine and I think that he might be the only one to eat them. I will have to wait and see if I can get other people in my family to try them out.

Family of Pumpkins

Well we finally carved our pumpkins yesterday. I know real good when Halloween is today but at least we did get to it. Hope didn’t find the pumpkin carving very interesting at first so we just let her nap for the time that Michael and I were carving ours and making a great good old mess. Here is our pumpkins before we started. Michaels is on the right and mines is on the left and the very small one in front is Hope’s pumpkin. I think hers is going to turn out the cutest of them all.Of course Michael finishes his first, like every year. I don’t know how he does it but he is just really good at cleaning them out really fast and good. He calls his pumpkin, Franken Pumpkin! He is too funny sometimes but at least I know that he had fun with it.Michael carved Hopes pumpkin for her this time and I got to draw the cute little face onto it. She sure does love the smell of pumpkins. Maybe one day I will have to get a pumpkin smelling candle for her. Hope is trying to be patient for Michael to finish carving it so that she can see it again. She sure is cute and I am glad that she woke up from her nap in time to see at least her pumpkin being carved. Now, finally, all of the pumpkins are finished. Michaels has his Franken Pumpkin, I have my sunny face pumpkin and Hope has her cute somewhat imitation puppy face pumpkin. I think that they turned out cute enough. I can’t wait to see them lit up tonight. I’m sure that they will look great. I was also right that Hopes pumpkin was going to turn out the cutest of all.

Comfy Pillows

Hope just loves to try to lie down on my pillow for some reason that I don’t know of. Well my oldest sister was getting rid of a couple of her through pillows and she asked me if I wanted them. I did want them but not for myself. I wanted them for Hope because now she could have her very own pillows to lie on and we would both be happy. So I have finally finished sewing covers for them from the extra fabric that I had left over from when I made her blanket. I am sure glad that I had extra fabric from that sewing project or else the pillows would not match her bedding and I like things to match. At first she liked to just lie down on the fabric while I was trying to figure out how I wanted to make the covers because she recognized the material that I was using. She also couldn’t wait for me to finish sewing it together so that she could have the fabric back. Once I had put the covers on the pillow though she was not so sure of it anymore. For some reason she likes them separate; go figure. As you can see she did finally lie down on the pillows that I made for her but it did take some coaching. She really likes the green pillow more then the pink and I think that is because it isn’t as busy pattern as the other one. Luckily I finished the pillows just in time for her nap. So we did a little mini test of the pillows with her nap time. She just zonked out on them so fast that I couldn’t believe it. She must have been really comfortable to do that or just really tired after playing so hard again today. She also looks really cute, I think, when she is just leaning against them. I tried propping them up for her instead of just laying them flat and she likes both ways. I’m really glad that she isn’t too picky of a dog. I am very curious how it will go tonight with her pillows and if she will sleep well with them too.

Update:
She actually used the pillows last night and I didn’t know how much she was going to love them but man she really likes to cuddle up into them. She cuddled with her pillows all night long and would not sleep anywhere else. Hope just looked so cute with them too and I am so very happy that they worked out for her so now she won’t try to steal my pillow. She sure is a spoiled dog but I still love her.

Surprise Morning Visitor

My family has been telling me for the longest time that they get deer in their backyard and I have wanted to see one. Well it finally happened today because we had a single buck visitor lying down on the grass. He looked actually kind of small/young for a buck but he was still cute all the same.I took this picture from off the deck and with as far as my camera would zoom in too. He sure is a really good sport for me to take a picture of him and for her not to run away.I like this picture a lot and it also really was not that dark this morning when I took the picture (just my camera acting up again). I’m so bad but I tried to get closer by walking up to him a little more. I’m glad that he didn’t run away but I wonder if he is just to use to people and that is really bad with it being hunting season. I hope he makes it through hunting season and winter because it sure would be nice to see him again.

Pizza Anyone?

I just love pizza! It is so good but sometimes it can get pretty expensive. So Michael and I have started to make bagel pizzas which are really good. It is yet another fun thing that we can cook together. So that is what we made tonight for our dinner. I think that they look pretty good for being inexpensive. I also think that it is really nice to share recipes with others so here is what our recipe is so far for the pizza bagels:
-pinch of Italian seasoning
-spaghetti sauce
-cheese
-topping! (pepperonis)
-bagels (we like plain)
-Mix in a bowl the sauce and the seasoning and put on the bagels with the cheese next and then your toppings (I have not put amounts of how much sauce and cheese because it all depends on how many pizza bagels you would like to make). Now put into the oven at 375 degrees and let them cook for about 7 minutes (watch until the cheese is melted because your oven is probably different than ours). Now just eat and enjoy!

Give a Dog a Bone and…

If you give a dog a bone first she will want to make sure that it is all right for her to have it. Then she will thank you for the bone with a doggy kiss. Next she will examine the bone to make sure that it wasn’t slobbered on by any other dog because that is just gross to eat another doggie’s bone. After she is done examining it she will wait for you to give her the signal that it is ok to chew on. Now that she is giving the go ahead she will do just that. She will chew and chew and chew on that bone like it is the best thing in the entire world. She will carry it around the house and continue to work on destroying it. She will even go as far as to take it in the car with her to show it off to all of the other dogs that she will be passing by, mostly to make them feel jealous but to also let them know that she is special. After she has shown her new bone to all of her doggy friends and neighbors she will want to go home. Once she is home she will want to go into the kitchen to enjoy her bone there. Now that she has spent a good part of the day with her new bone it is time for a little nap with her bone by her side of course. (Yes, I know that the bone is big but that means it will last longer for her too.)

Walk in Fall

Well we went back to a dog hike/trail thing that we have been to before in Salt Lake City. It was really beautiful there today with all of the leaves that have changed into some very pretty colors. We actually had more fun with Hope this time because there were a lot more dogs present today. She got to meet so many new doggy friends which I love for her to experience because her cousins are not the best playmates. She also got to play in the water again on this trip and lucky for her we were prepared with towels in the car so that she wouldn’t be cold. She ran all over the place and just loved every minute of it. I was actually lucky to get her to sit so still for me just for this one good picture of her. I thought that this was a very pretty spot with the trees and leaves. I am really happy that Michael was with me to help keep her a little bit more under control at the park. As you can see, she just loves to explore and figure things out. I’m really happy that she just has such a wonderful love and curiosity of life and she makes old things that seem just a second thought become new and interesting. I can’t wait to see what she is going to discover on another trip there. As we were leaving the park we got to see the beautiful sunset at the capital. It was just such an amazing view that you just had to see it. Hope even actually enjoyed looking at it too. I really do love it when you can have a man made thing become so beautiful just by a simple sunsetting. Aren't we lucky that we are able to enjoy simple things like that? I really believe that we are.

No Name’s Cover Up

It is really sad to say but we still have not thought of any names that both Michael and I like for the frogs. We did finally decided of a name for the girl late tonight but for the boy we just can’t seem to find anything that really fits him. But I did one really good thing for the frogs today. I made them a cover for their tank so that they will not get cold at night. Here is the situation: Michael and I have to leave on the little frog’s tank light all of the time or else the little girl frog becomes really cold and in the morning looks really pale (mostly white) and sick. It takes her a good part of the day to finally get to her normal pale color back from having their light off all night. So to make sure that she won’t get this sick again from the cold, we have been leaving the light on. Well it created an entirely new problem for Michael and me. We can’t sleep with the light on! So, of course, we had to fix the new problem right away or else no sleep for us again. Michael came up with the idea to make a cover for them so that it will keep the room dark and they can have their light on and a little extra warmth from the cover. As you can see the tank is really small so you would think that it doesn’t put out a lot of light but boy would you be wrong about that. It really lights up the room especially when your head is close by it. Michael came up with the idea of the cover but I was the lucky one to design and sew it together.
This is what I have come up with. Because it is mostly for our little girl frog it just had to be pink! I know that it looks a little big for the tank but it really does fit it great. The reason that it looks big is because the bottom of the tank is actually smaller then the top and to fit over the top of the tank I had to make it the same size all around. I added the ties to hold it up so that it wouldn't slide down but it stands up so well that it really doesn't need them but it just looks nicer with them. Something really funny though, while I was cutting out fabric Hope wanted to see what I was doing. Well she came over and recognized that they fabric was the exact same that I had used on her blanket that I made her (it was all of the left over fabric that I had from her blanket). So she thought that whatever I was making was for her so of course she just lays on all of the fabric and wouldn't not get off. I finally had to tell her to go to her bed and enjoy her blanket and share the fabric with her animal siblings. She really does like the cover for them and she is fine sharing now but it sure was hard for her to do that. She really is a very funny little doggy.
Alright, yes the cover was made for the girl but she has to share her tank with a boy and it is only fair that I make the cover reversible so that he doesn't have to stare at pink all of the time. I figure that they can alternate every night. It was hard at first to think of a way to make the cover reversible and still look well made but I am so grateful that a idea finally came into my head last night as I was trying to fall asleep with their light blaring into my face. Tonight is a very exciting night because we get to test it and see how well it will work. I really do hope that it all turns out great and everyone can be happy again.

Update:
Well the cover was tested out last night like I said we would do and it works well enough. It didn’t block out all of the light but it had a nice soft glow like a night light so it works well enough for Michael and me to finally get some sleep. It is also nice because now I can see hope in the dark and if she needs anything I will be able to find her. The frogs liked the privacy too which I wouldn’t have thought anything of that but the boy sure did like some alone time. It also helped him to settle down enough to finally get some sleep. Normally he is the party animal and just wants to play and swim all of the time so I guess with having nothing to look at he could finally get some rest. It worked great for our little girl frog in that she had a wonderful color look to her this morning and she also was a lot more active in swimming around. So over all it was a good success for the family and I am grateful that Michael had such a wonderful idea.

Sewing Projects for Hope

Well I feel bad for Hope but she has not gotten to do anything fun today except model for me. I’m just really lucky that she knows to hold still when I tell her to and that she likes the extra attention too. Today was really nothing but working on sewing/fixing things for her. If you remember I told you how her backpack broke after one use of it, well I fixed it today.
Here is what it looks like broke. You can see that the piece of fabric the manufactures picked was way to weak to support anything and on top of that they only based stitched it! That is just crazy to do that on something a dog is going to be wearing.
So to fix it, Michael and I chose a type of material that was flexible but also strong. I then did a really tight stitch and went over it multiple times so that it wouldn’t fall out again. I also have made the fabric wider than the original but the original is still there. I have incased it in the other material.
Here is the other fun thing that I have been working on, her Halloween costume. These are just some of the patterns and ideas that I tried to go through before I made it. I picked to make the bottom picture of the dragon costume. I really don’t like making my own patterns but I am grateful that at least I know how to do it.
This is what I have so far on her costume. The spikes took me a long time to figure out how to make them stand up on there own and look good too. Michael has been helping me with her wings so that they will hang up a little bit to look like she is flying sort of. I also love how he gives me input and his opinion on how it can look. I really do love how he is so kind as to help me with any project that I am working on and because it is important to me it is also important to him. So that is an up to date report on what I have done for her costume. I will still take a picture of her in it when I am finished so that you can see how cute she looks in it.

A Boy and His Aunts Dog

I just love my nephew Matty and what is even greater is how much Hope loves him because sometimes she is really scared of children but not him at all. Anytime a window is open and she can hear him outside she just goes crazy and can not wait to see him. Since Matty was visiting today Hope was really excited to say hello to Matty and play with him. Her playing with him pretty much comes down to watching him play and him talking to her. It is pretty cute to see them together having there own conversations which Matty always is nice enough to tell me what Hope tells him. Here Matty is asking Hope which color she likes the most (which is red) and he is putting it on for her. She really enjoys watching him work hard with his construction toy.Hope now hears Matty's little sister crying and is just checking on her to see if she is alright but she still won't leave Matty's side. She just loves him so much that you really can't make her leave him.Hope is trying to figure out where all of the toys in front of her have gone. Matty is really fast at building and I don't think Hope was expecting him to go so quickly. I sure do love watching them play together and it is really good for both of them to have a playmate even if it is a boy and a dog.

First Toy

Hope has a lot of toys and that is so our fault for getting her so many but we just love her so much that we can not resist doing so. The very first one that we got for her was a little grey hippo which we call Mr. Hippo. We got it several weeks before we picked her up and sometimes when we would go and visit her we would take it so that she could have something that smelled like us and her mother so that she wouldn’t have any problems leaving her old family. Well she still loves the toy a ton and today she really wanted to play with it.
She is just so cute with the toy and I am glad that she still enjoys it. She loves sleeping with it too. Here is the funny thing though, when she played with her toy she actually played with it one of her favorite ways…on her back! She is so funny when she does this and it is really hard to catch it on camera too but today I finally got it and you just have to see it.

Isn’t that just the funniest thing that you ever saw? She really makes me laugh everyday with all of the cute things that she does.

Healthy Snack?

Now doesn’t this just look great?
Ok I know that this doesn’t look like a healthy snack and I really don’t care because it sure did taste good. My mother made the cinnamon rolls which was so sweet of her to do but they were for a, “boo” thing that her neighborhood likes to do at Halloween time. Even though they were for other people, Michael and I got the two left over on the plate once my mom had picked the ones that she was going to be giving away, which was very sweet of her to share with us. I then decided that hot chocolate would go great with them because I was really cold. Now I know that this doesn’t really seem like a bad night time snack but it was. Michael and I had just gotten home from going out on a night time run/jog/walk thing and so we were feeling pretty good about us trying to work out and be a healthy couple together but then we go and ruin it by eating this snack. I think that it is really funny that we even did that but hey at least we didn’t have to feel worse then we could have if we hadn’t gone for that run/jog/walk thing before. It was also fun to just sit together at the kitchen table and talk and that is always a healthy thing for us to do in our relationship, so it was worth it.

Pumpkin Expecting

I went out this morning with my mother to go and get pumpkins at a really great deal. So we picked up one for everyone in the family. It was a little hard to navigate to the pumpkins that we wanted because they were all stacked on top of each other so a lot of them didn’t look to great. I really think that we got the best ones in the bunch. Mine and Michael's pumpkin are in the very back. The rest of the family has theirs in the front. This is going to be a really fun family activity. It actually has been a long time since I did pumpkin carving with my family.Hope helped me unload the car and I think she was trying to figure out which pumpkin would be the best one for her to carve. Well not this time and not with these pumpkins. They all are way to big for her and are very heavy too so at least I know she can't pick them up and run away with them easily. Well maybe she could with the smallest pumpkin that is there in the front but I think she has her eye on the big one (again Michael's and my pumpkins are on the very top step).I can see that Hope is already getting tired of seeing pumpkins but she still does love them. I do think that a year away from pumpkins will be a good thing for her. She probably just really needs her morning nap that she likes to take.

My Handy Man

I love it when Michael is home but I love it even more when he is able to fix things for me. Our closet door has been coming off of its track for a really long time and the door has been getting worse every day. It bugs me even more when I have to put something away in the closet and the door comes off. So, Michael my incredible man has fixed the door finally for me and he even threw in a few extra fixes too that he is going to finish today for me as well.
Yeah!!! I love that I am going to have a door that works again. It is really funny the things that you become grateful for but the one thing that isn’t funny that I am grateful for is my husband.
This is the extra work that I was talking about. My mother has this dresser for us to use except that the little pullout drawers bottoms have been falling out and the backs too. Michael has been so sweet as to fix these as well. My mother has tried fixing them with white glue and tape which I guess works for her but not us. Michael has been using wood glue and nails to fix the problem and hopefully this won’t need to be fixed again and my mother can relax with that being done.

Zucchini Bread!

I just love zucchini bread and I am so excited that I finally got to make my bread. I was also starting to worry that my zucchini that I found was going to go bad but it hadn’t and I was able to make my bread. I also made it all by myself which normally I like to cook with Michael but he had other important things to do on his one day off of work this week. I even got to use the recipe that my oldest sister has for the bread and I have always loved how her bread turns out so I got a copy of it from her. I am really grateful that I have a really nice sister that lets me use her things (zucchini and recipes). I must say that I am really proud of this bread too because normally when I make bread it turns into a rock. I don’t know what happens but my guess is that a wicked witch jumps into my oven and uses her magic wand and changes them into rocks.
Here is my bread while in the pans. Don’t they have a pretty brown color to them? I made to smaller loafs two give away as thank you gifts to my older sister (who was kind enough to provide a lot in the making of the bread) and my mother (who was also nice enough to help me clean out my sisters garden).
Another picture of my bread out of the pans and this is a big deal for me too because normally when I take the bread out of a pan it totally falls apart and that always gets me frustrated because I put so much hard work into making my bread. So I am very happy that I was able to at least make my bread and everyone said that it tasted really good too. Victory! Here is the recipe that I used for the bread:

3 eggs
1 cup oil
2 cups sugar
2 cups raw graded zucchini
3 tsp. vanilla
3 cups flour
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
¼ tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg

Beat eggs till foamy – add oil, sugar, zucchini, and vanilla then mix lightly but well.
Add flour, salt, soda, baking powder, cinnamon, and nutmeg. (The batter should look like a cake mix batter when you have finished putting everything into it.)
Put in 2 greased loaf pans (you can also sprinkle them with sugar which is a lot of fun), bake at 380 degrees for 55-65 minutes (when I used the two little pans I had a shorter cooking time so check it often). Let cool in pans on a cooling rack and after that use a knife to cut around the sides of the bread and pan and let the bread finish cooling on the cooling rack by itself. Eat and enjoy your hard work!
