Tummy Time Attituded

It is really hard to find time to give our youngest some safe tummy time.  It is starting to be something that we do at night after the older two are in bed.  Not a habit I want to be making since I am missing my sleep at night.

Hope has recently made it her responsibility to stick close to James when he has his tummy time.  I think she also just adores the new little babies that come into our home.

As you can see someone wasn't too happy with me for making them do this.

At times he will start to fall sleep and get a little rest.

Other times he will let me know that he dislikes it very much.

But he is a happy kid again when he gets his binky and a little brake.

Although he still lets me know how he feels about it.

Late Night Support

It is always nice to have someone their to help you and encourage you during the middle of the night.

However...

It would be nice if that encouragement wasn't always someone who is grumpy and demanding for food plus two other's not being able to wait for you to get out of bed so they can take your nice warm spot.  I feel so loved sometimes.

1 Month Already

I can't believe my little man is already a month old!  I know I say this a ton but where on earth did the time go?  Even my husband was surprised so we tried to figure it out.  One week was life in the NICU for our son, then he came home and his brother and sister were at friends places for the day for two weeks, finally it was just life at home so no wonder it felt like no time at all.

I must say that I am very excited to be doing these one month pictures for another year because I really enjoy seeing my kids grow and their buddy shrink.  At the moment James is trying to do the same hand thing that Ollie does.

James has really gotten long in such a short amount of time.

Now this picture is a little different than above because he is wearing a different month onesie.  I couldn't decided what one I liked more.  Please help me decided.

Once we finished the pictures my little man was ready for some rest.  He also made sure to let me know no more pictures for the rest of the day as you can see.

Love to Hug

These two are the best of friends but it is moments like this that I kind of feel bad for Faith and what she has to put up with from Seth.  I'm sure we will never find another dog that can put up with his "love" ever again.

Quilting Companion

It feels like it has been a really long time since I was last able to sew.  I'm sure that is because I have lost my craft room to a little girl that needed her own bedroom. Everything is now in my room so when I want to sew I have to drag it all out into the kitchen and work from there.  While I am still recovering my hubby has to lift my sewing machine for me so it is even more of a pain to ask him to get it out and then put it away when I'm done so the kids won't mess with it in the morning.  Oh the joys of life, right?

Thankfully for one day the older two kids were out playing at a friends house and I could sew since the new little one really won't mess with my machine.  Unfortunately I didn't have much energy but I forced myself to work on a project anyways.  I decided that he perfect project to work on with James's help was his baby quilt.

As you can see he was a ton of help.  I worked and he got the rest I was suppose to be getting.  Hopefully I'll be done with this quilt soon so he can enjoy it.

First Times for Two

In such a short amount of time so many things have happened and both Sarah and James have had many first time experiences.  Here they are:

SARAH
Sitting at the table for the first time.

She does really well feeding herself when it comes to certain items.

I'm not sure Seth knows exactly what to think about her being at the table.  It won't be like this all the time yet but I figure every now and again she can have some fun in joining us.

Her very first time sleeping with a pillow!

The first time I could finally get a picture of her standing by herself.  She can take a few steps too which is great.  Another first for her was going down the park slid by herself too.  She wasn't totally sure about doing that but I'm proud that she let us do that anyways.

JAMES
Meeting his doctor for the first time.

Sleeping like a frog.  I find it so funny when my kids do this and it isn't very often.

James meeting my doctor that helped me have a good pregnancy so he could arrive here as safely as possible.  I am so thankful for all that she does.

Double guard duty.  Both girls had to watch over him during one of his nap times.

Sunday outfit, the tie is a little too big but I know he will grow into it quickly.  This was also the first Sunday that he got to go to church too.

The first time he wore shoes!  I just love baby shoes.

Going to the park.  He didn't get to do much of anything but sleep.

A tent created by mommy to help him sleep while daddy had to work late one night at home.

Finally he got to enjoy some tummy time too.  He liked it for quite awhile and then he was done.

Perfect Presents for a Princess

Sarah was very excited to open up her present that she was really ripping through them fast.  She got a lot of really great gifts too.  Seth would have loved to help her but we wouldn't let him so you might see a few pictures of a upset boy in the background.

She opened up her gift up from mommy and daddy and liked her present.  She liked it so much that she kept looking for more in the bag.

A friend of ours dropped off a gift for her on her birthday.  Honestly, I didn't even know that person knew it was her birthday.  It really made me happy for multiple reasons.

Our family really loves ducks, so it was more than appropriate for her to get one from her Grandparents S on her birthday.

Sarah was really starting to get good at opening up presents by the end.

She got a lot of cute cloths to enjoy and I just love the shock no her face here.

Trying to decided which outfit to wear first.

She ended up playing with her new toy instead.  Since she was distracted at the time so I made her try on one of the new headbands that she had gotten for her birthday.

My oldest son and I made these together for her.  I let him pick out the ribbon colors and then we wrapped them around some dowels to bake in the oven to hold the cute curl.  I'm so happy with how good they turned out too.  It was so fast and simple that I will most likely be doing this again.

A few days after her birthday her Grandparents S sent her up even more birthday gifts.

She got this great pull along giraffe.

She also got this little doll that came in a sleeping pea bad.  We named the doll sweet pea because of it.  She has really loved this doll and sleeps with it at night and nap times too.  Well I am just thankful that even though things didn't go as I had hoped/wished that my little girl still had a really good first birthday.

Becoming One Is Fun!

I really look forward to those major milestones my children will have in their lives and I can't think of a better one than their first birthday.  It just amazes me to see how much they change in such a short time frame.  I wanted Sarah's first birthday to be extra special since it wasn't going to be how I had pictured it in my mind.  I was/am still recovering from my C-section so the older two kids have been going to friends houses for the day and I knew that for her birthday she wouldn't be with me much of the time so it made me even more determined to make sure she had a good day when she was here.  I also still wanted to do our normal traditional things that we do.

I normally each month get a picture of the kids next to their growing buddy to document how much they have changed.  I thought I would be cleaver and do this the night before her birthday since I wouldn't get much time with her on the actual day.  I must say it was a good thought but totally not a reality with this kid.  She was so wired and all over the place that this was the best picture I could get.

I tired my hardest to decorate the house cute for her too.  I stayed up late to get it just right.  I know she isn't going to remember this but it was still important to me to do for her.

I even had my sweet husband run out to the store and get her a special table cloth for her birthday.  I feel lucky that I married such a sweet man to do such a thing for me.

The easiest tradition to do was to take a picture of Sarah at the very exact time she was born.  I love doing these pictures.  You know how people get excited to count down the time for New Years?  Well I get excited for my kids birthday so much that I count down the time until I get to take this kind of picture.  Yes, I'm a little nuts when it comes to my kids.

I thought before breakfast I would try to get a good month milestone picture of Sarah with her growing buddy and I'm glad that I did this because it was so much easier and a much better picture than the one above.  My kids do great with getting their pictures taken in the morning rather than the evening.

Now that I'm done with my little photo session it is time to PARTY!

A breakfast for a princess to enjoy.  Of course the balloon had to come along.

Once the kids got home we had a little family party with a fun activity for them to enjoy together.  They were just sorting colors out but they both had fun.

Sarah really ate it up.

Now while the kids were gone playing at a friends house for the day I decided to be brave and make her first birthday cake.  I was thinking that it wouldn't be too hard on my body because I wasn't lifting anything heavy.  Man, was I wrong!  It really tired me out but thankfully James helped me make the cake and push me through the entire thing.

At one point I started to get a little creative with the coloring.  I wanted it to be fun and girlly.  All of the cakes are vanilla flavoring.

I made heart shape cakes for us girls with vanilla frosting (since that is my favorite) and star shape cakes for the boys with chocolate frosting (since that is daddy's favorite).  I also added those little hard sugar decorative things that you see too.  Although I will never do that again because they taste awful.

The finished birthday girl's cake.  Thankfully it doesn't look to bad.

She got a good taste of it with her hand and decided that it was okay to eat.  A quick moment of enjoying the look of the cake before...

Trying to put the entire thing in her mouth all at once.  Funny girl.

I gave her the cake with the pink coloring because I think it turned out the best with all of the little cakes that I had made.  I'm just glad that she liked it so much.

The men enjoyed their cakes at the table together.  Once we were finished eating it was time to open up gifts.  Yeah, I really didn't think it through to give her the cake AFTER we open up presents but Sarah cleaned up well so it was okay.
