Making Bread
Electric Man
I love having a great man around to fix things! Ever since we moved into this apartment we have had a few things that we needed to take care of ourselves and one of them involved two phone jacks. The phone jacks just did not work at all and one of them we really need to have working. We talked to the manager about it and he said that he didn't have anyone to fix it at the time and that we could take care of it ourselves and he would reimburse us for it. We looked around and talked to several places and none of them would do it. Michael then looked on the Internet to see if we could just do it ourselves and he actually found a sight that told him how to do it. I just liked that it had pictures of the process so that I could understand what it was saying better. So last night we went out and got new phone jacks and Michael hooked them up. He did a great job and they both work wonderfully now. The funny thing about it is that fixing the two phone jacks actually improved the phones reception. Not totally sure how that worked but I really don't care now that it is fixed and all taken care of. YEAH FOR THE REPAIR GUY!!! I was so happy that yes I had to take a picture of my handy mans work.
Doesn't it look great? It is so pretty and white. The old one was a ugly brown color. So there you have it. I think we could go into business fixing phone jacks since it seems like no one else does this sort of thing in town but then again maybe they all just do it themselves as well. Oh well, time to go and makes some calls.

Quilting Service Project
One day I got a phone call from one of the sisters in our ward telling me that she was in charge of making quilts for an activity the stake was going to be having next month. She was suppose to make a few quilts and set them up for the sisters to tie together at the activity but she was not going to be able to go to the activity since it was around the same time as her due date. That is when she said that she had heard in the ward that I knew how to sew and that I also make great quilts. I have no idea how anyone in the ward could say such a thing like that since none of them have ever seen a quilt that I have done before. The sister finally asked me if I would mind being the one in charge of making and setting up the quilts for the activity. I told her that I would not mind and so I have been working hard on this quilting project since. She did give me all of the fabric that members of the ward had donated. The sad thing about that though is a ton of the fabric is knit so I can not use it. I also got all of the yarn that was donated too and getting that all untangle was quite a challenge. But I have had a lot of fun looking in several of my quilting books for possible quilts I could do. One of the books I found a quilt possibility in looked great (seeing as how the expectation of me was set a bit to high, I still did not want to disappoint) so I started on it. Before and during the time that I was cutting out the fabric I though it was possible for me to do this quilt quickly since I was sure I had found a better way of putting the thing together then what the directions had said to do. However, after I had actually started to sew the thing together it did not work out the way I had planned. I had to follow the directions in the book and I was totally panicked about that since it required me to do a technique that I had not done for a very long time. I'm just grateful that I was blessed to do what was required for the pattern without to much trouble.
I moved my sewing machine to the dinning room table since that table is so much bigger then my actual sewing table. I just makes it a lot easier for me to work. You can see I have got it all cut out and am starting to sew it together. I just love how the colors worked out. I did have to put in some of my own fabric to make it work but that is okay.
Here is what one square looks like for the quilt. Not to bad, right?
Now one block was and is not the same as one square. One block (for this quilt) is four squares put together. I then had to put them in rows of three and then connect all of those together. It did feel like it was taking forever to get to this point but at least it was turning out okay. I will post a picture of the finished product when I get it done, of course.
A really funny thing about me quilting in the dinning room is how Hope had to cope with me being in there. You can see that my machines cord was right over her food bowl so she had to eat very carefully. At first she didn't trust the cord but eventually she realized that it wasn't going to do anything to her food so then she was okay. I'm just glad that it didn't take her to long to get over the fact that I was going to be staying there for several weeks. Well back to work for me.
Play Group Activity
In our new yard they have something that is called play group. I think other wards do this too but I am not totally sure. Anyways, if you do not know what it is I will inform you right now. It is where a group of mothers get together and let the kids play while they try to talk to one another while watching their kids. I have been invited to come to play group but have always felt strange about going since I don't have any kids to take with me to it. I would go if my nieces and nephews lived close enough (and if their mothers would let me take them off their hands for a few hours) but they don't so hence I do not go. Well yesterday the play group was going to go to a pony farm. This activity I was very excited about since I love horses so much. I muddled over if I should attend or not and on the very day of the activity was to take place I had decided that I would go. To be totally honest I was so excited about it (even with me trying to decided) that I stayed up all night to get ready to go to it, just in case. I know that you would think there would not be a lot to do to get ready for it. Just dress and go but they said to bring some snacks or a lunch and a few other things. The person in charge of the activity didn't say how long we would be gone so I just wanted to be very prepared for anything that would happen. I made me and Michael a lunch and I even had to get Hope ready to go to work with Michael (I'm so glad that he can take her whenever I need him to do so for me).
.
Finally when it was time to go to the pony farm (we had all meet at the church house and carpooled over to the place) I was tired but still pretty excited. I was thinking that the pony farm was going to be like some little fun amusement park for kids where they could ride the horses and feed the animals and pet some of them and play with fun play food to pretend to be farmers and things. The entire thing was very lovely in my head. However when we pulled up to the place I soon learned that it was only a farm and nothing more but I still had hope that this was going to be fun. A grandpa farmer (I'm sorry but that is the only way I can describe him) greeted us and took us to see two of his horses, a mother and baby. The only problem was that the horses didn't want to say hello to any of us and the man had to catch them and drag them over. I think the kids only looked at those horses for five minutes and then they were ready to move on since they really couldn't do much. We saw two more horses and that was it. YEAH! WE ONLY SAW FOUR HORSES TOTAL THE ENTIRE TIME WE WERE THERE!!! I was so frustrated but more shocked that the trip was already over. I had been so excited for this and it was a big let down. I'm not sure if I just built the thing up in my head to much or not. I still can not believe that we were done in less then ten minutes at this place. The funny thing is that there were tons of other animals for the kids to see but the farmer would not let us because they belonged to his daughter who was away. I did come to find out that the daughter was the one that was suppose to take us around the farm and to let us actually DO some things but she was a total no show. Even though I was completely disappointed I tried really hard to not let it show. I did take some pictures so at least you can all enjoy that part of my outing.
These are full grown Welsh Ponies type D I believe. The grandma farmer told the kids a lot about them. Much more then what any of them could really understand or care about for that matter but a few of the much, much older kids enjoyed listening to it for a moment. Some of the things that she said about horses and ponies I do agree with but other things I was not as happy to hear her say because I know she was being totally bias in some of her ideas and opinions.
Like the first horses we saw, these ones didn't want to get to close to the kids at first but they started to warm up to them. That is once the kids quited down enough not to frighten the horses anymore.
It was pretty cute to see the kids pet the horses. That is when the horses let them.
I don't know about you but I think these horses need a hair cut.
Since only a few kids at a time could pet the horses (since they still weren't getting that close and the grandpa and grandma farmer weren't doing much to change that) the kids all swarmed one of the farm dogs. It sure was a good thing that the dog really likes attention and is good with kids too. My ride didn't leave until everyone else had left so I got to see the dogs reaction to all of its admirers leaving and oh was it such a sad face, poor thing. But one good thing about being one of the last to leave is that the grandpa farmer gave me some zucchini! I was happy to take it since I actually wanted to make some special bread that day. At least the entire thing was not a complete waste of time but I don't think I will ever try to go to the play group again no matter how fun it may seem and even if I do have kids to take.

Lilly's Birthday!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LILLY! If you do not know, Lilly, is our pet turtle. Her is a picture of the birthday girl on her fourth birthday.
Lilly is more then just a pet to us so we give her a party to celebrate her birthday. We did have a somewhat birthday party on Saturday because we were not sure if we would really get to celebrate her birthday on the actually day since it was in the middle of the week. On Saturday we cleaned out her tank so that it was all sparkly clean and let her walk around the apartment (minus the kitchen which she still tried to go into).
It is arraigned a little different then what it use to be but Lilly really didn't mind that very much. We also bought her a couple fish and some special turtle food. Lilly got some lettuce on her birthday as part of her special meal.
I just love watching her attack it because she is so delicate about it. I know that she must have felt pretty special because from that Saturday until her birthday she held her head a little higher and acted like she was the queen of the place. Hope also did get a party favor, a new bone (mostly because she needed it and since we were already getting Lilly a few thing for her birthday we figured that it would be alright to do). I'm just happy that she had a great day and enjoyed her birthday. Happy Birthday Again Lilly!

Book In Review
The book that I have just recently finished is The Vanishing Sculptor. IT WAS WAY GOOD! I just love this author and her writing style. The book kind of goes along with the other dragon series (DragonSpell, DragonQuest, DragonKnight, DragonFire, DragonLight) but takes place in a earlier time and in a different country too. I really loved the new characters and happy when a few old characters from the earlier series were in this book too. The story plot was so interesting with how it twisted and turned. If you have been reading the other dragon books (that I mentioned earlier) you are going to want to read this one too.
Wrapped Up
Well Hope did it again. Another very cute thing all on her own. However I am not so sure how she did it. I was watching a movie wrapped up in a blanket with Hope laying on the floor before I had to leave the room to go and get something. When I got back I was totally surprised with what she had done.
I still can not believe that she had wrapped herself up in the blanket like that. I guess she just wanted a turn or something. I like the look on her face like, "What?"
She then just turned her head and started to watch the movie again like nothing was out of the normal. The funny thing of it all is that Hope has blankets of her own to use and she picks to use mine. I think that if she can wrap herself up in a blanket then she can learn to go and get her own blanket too.
Puzzle Me?
I am one of those people who are just not that much into puzzles. A puzzle can just be really frustrating sometimes and take forever to complete. However, just like how I am beginning to like reading more, I am also beginning to like to do puzzles more. Michael got one of our puzzles out and we worked on it together for a week because that was all the time that we need to get it done. It was one of my Classic Winnie-the-Pooh puzzles. I hadn't opened up this one yet so I was really excited to work on it together. Here is what the picture/puzzle looked like.
Way cute, hu? I think it turned out really good and I had a lot of fun doing it except for one thing.
YEAH! A piece was missing! I can not believe it because we had just open the thing. How can a puzzle come without a piece? We thought that we might of dropped it but knew we really hadn't but we checked everywhere just to make sure. Of course we didn't find the piece and now we have a incomplete puzzle. We are hoping that the manufactures will send us a new piece but I'm not sure if they really will. I just hate how we worked so hard on the thing only to find out that we can never put in the last piece unless we make one ourselves. It was a fun puzzle but a very sad ending.

From The Bag
Everyone needs to have a pet. The reason that I say that is because they always seem to find ways to make you smile. This is very true when it comes to my little Hope. I have caught her doing some very interesting things before and this time was no different. We had just recently gotten a new bag of dog food (since Hope was running low). I was filling up her food bin and had put her food bag down for a minute to do something else quick and while I was doing my other thing I heard this crunching sound. I went to check on Hope and this is what I found.
I guess she was pretty hungry to just go and eat right out of the bag. Oh well, nothing I can do about it and I really don't mind either. Can't wait to see what she will do next to make me smile.
The Gimpy Girls
Many of you already know that Hope's leg has been hurting her (for a reminder of what I am talking about click the link). Well it has been getting worse in the sense that she doesn't use it very much at all anymore. Then on the last Friday, for some reason that I do not know, my foot starting hurting so bad that I could not walk on it. So right now Hope and I make quite a lovely crippled pair. The sad thing about it though is when my foot begins to feel better I think that it is ALL better and that I can do my normal things again so I end up pushing it to hard and have to get back to resting shortly after I start doing my normal routine. It is getting to be very frustrating to be somewhat stuck. I sure will be happy when this is all done with but I must say that I have much more sympathy for my poor little Hope. Pray for both of us to get better soon please.
Birthday's This Month
I know I didn't do this on the very first day of the month like I probably should have but there are only two birthday's this month and I knew I wasn't going to miss them. Our little Lilly is going to have her birthday this month which is always an exciting time for our family when that day arrives. My sister also is going to have her birthday at the end of this month too. So..........HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU ALL!!!
